Ready to upgrade from a 7970 need some advice noob you here

Current system i2500k/8ram/ssd/850 power/win10 using a Radeon 7970 , was looking at the r390 as a replacement same pins decent price , should be good for a few more years at 1080 I guessing, 2500k @ 4.2 shouldn't be a problem at that resolution would it?any suggestions welcome and thanks in advance

Wait a few months to see what Nvidia are bringing out under Pascal would be my advice....the improvements on current tech (both AMD and Nvidia) should be considerable.

400.00 /1080 p/60fps solid/us/new egg or amazon/240ssd-2tb all titles shooters/ mmo all the top games edit playing on a 60 inch plasma 120hrtz

Yes, go for the R9 390. Personally I think the MSI R9 390 Gaming 8G card would be a perfect match. Thank for the quick and detailed response.
