Hello, I recently bought a GTX 1070 Strix 8GB OC edition.

I realized that games were running at really low fps. I tried everything, DDU, reinstalling windows etc. Then I downloaded driver easy to check if my motherboards' bios was properly updated and in the graphic cards tab it said my core clock was 265 Mhz, way below the supposed 1632 Mhz. Please help.

My PC:
GTX 1070 Asus Strix OC
intel i5 7600K 3.5 Ghz
16 GB DDR4 RAM
MSI Z270 Gaming Motherboard
550W Corsair PSU

It's possible, that's why I always suggest getting above recommended PSU + gold at least, yours is bronze.
You're actually on the limit of 500W plus it's a custom cooler GPU. But I can't be sure, I know I would never recommend that PSU.

Still you shouldn't have 265 Mhz while gaming.
Driver easy? Isn't that like one of those scam apps that supposedly does everything for you so you don't need to update yourself, but also you need to pay to activate?

Your clock should be low on idle. Not during games. Use MSI AFTERBURNER to check your speeds and performance while in game.

If your clocks are low, get the Asus strix app from their website or the CD that came with the card.

It's true driver easy is a scam, I downloaded it only to check if any of my drivers were outdated. Also, I tried what you said using gpu tweak 2 and realized that while gaming the gpu clock is capped at 266 Mhz. Any suggestion?

I read all your statement initially. The thing is, there's no such thing as a "Asus Strix App", I though you were referring to the GPU Tweak II software. Please infom me if I am incorrect. Thank you.

I guess the Tweak software + there seems to be a bios update also. Months ago someone complained about an Asus Strix GPU if I'm not mistaken and his performance increased after he installed the specific software for his GPU. I can't remember. Anyway, it's always good to have those installed, also check your performance settings that they are set to performance/quality rather than balance and power saving. Look into the Windows Advanced power settings also.

Yeah, I already tried downloading both GPU tweak and the bios update with no effect. All settings from windows/nvidia are placed for maximum performance.

Could my PSU be bottlenecking my card?

I will try replacing PSU with a gold one, if the issue continues I will create another thread.

Thank you very much.

No problem but you should check your in-game GPU and CPU usage before investing + temperatures, if you're not using your full potential and the GPU isn't overheating and Vsync is turned off, then yes the GPU is not working to the fullest of it's power. Or if the CPU is at 100% all the time while the GPU isn't but I doubt that CPU is bottlenecking you
