Question Really slow boot if I do a "Save & Exit" in the BIOS ?

Hi Everyone,

Got a really strange issue with a new build that I'm trying to fix before I RMA my new board

System Specs

Asus Tuf X670e-Plus
Ryzen 7800x3d
32GB G Skill Trident Z5 Neo (2 X 16)
Asus Tuf 3080 OC
SEASONIC Focus PX 850 ATX Modular PSU
Samsung 980 PRO NVME

The issue I have is that when booting if I enter the BIOS and do an F10 to save and exit, the machine does its soft reset and then boots really slowly. When you get to the spinning wheel on the "TUF" screen this is laggy, eventually when windows loads the welcome audio lags, and when typing the password the button presses take a few seconds to register. This can be after any change in the bios i.e. after restoring defaults or even after making no changes but saving and exiting.

If I do a full shut down of the PC after saving and exiting, the machine boots fine and all the changes are maintained.

  • I have updated the BIOS to the latest version and even tried to roll back to a few other versions,
  • I have also reset the CMOS
  • Done a complete clean install of Windows.
  • I also have both 8-pin CPU power headers connected.
