Question Realtek alc 892/897 vs s1200a question

Hey guys

Just swapped my motherboard ( am4 tuf b550m s1200a ) for a am5 one ( b650 msi with alc 892/897)

I´ve noticed that my overall sound level using the same headset is lower as well as hearing footsteps is somehow harder now

Tried the same headphone on both boards ( h2232d)

Now i don´t think it is worth swapping boards to find another for s1200a ( even asus am5 b650s don´t have the s1200a)

I´m wondering now , should i get a sound card or get a usb headset ? is fifine h9 good ? or a good usb headset ?

Did you reinstall the OS after the motherboard swap?

asus am5 b650s don´t have the s1200a
There are boards with the ALC4080 audio chip on them.

That isn't much of a good quality headset, IMHO but that doesn't excuse the ALC897 chip in 2024.

Is 4080 better ? do you think it is worth rmaing the board for better one ? Too bad this one i got seemed to have a better vrm

While i agree about the headset i´m sure it sounded way better on my ASUS mobo

Do you think i should get a sound card or is there a good usb headset ? I´ve ordered the fifine h9 , do you think it could beat the h2232d ?

Thumb rule with a build, if you swap boards, you will need to reinstall the OS. It's not about a question of the audio it's about system stability. Perhaps it could resolve the audio issue.

You mentioned the chipset of the motherboard and the brand of the board, what is the exact model of the board you have? Why not just return the existing board and get something higher in quality instead of an RMA?

according to some youtube videos it has overall better vrm than asus and got a good price on it

Do you think it is worth to ditch the board and get another one ?
