I am running Realtek 6.0.8703.1 on an old Gigabyte Z370 HD3-CF motherboard, which works OK for evertyhing else. I am running Windows 10.

I have no output on the rear 3.5mm audio socket. The front 3.5mm headphone socket works OK.

The speakers are Creative t100 which work fine with Bluetooth and correctly indicate when the 3.5mm input is connected.

The Windows Sound Control Panel shows Realtek[R] audio speakers as the default device. Output levels are above zero and audio enhancements are disabled. When sound is 'playing' the volume level indicator shows output levels as expected.

The Gigabyte audio app shows 3 playback devices: Realtek Digital Output, Speakers and Realtek HD audio Second Output. Speakers are selected. The Connector Retasking screen shows Rear Speaker Out selected. All volume levels are above zero.

I have tried disabling and enabling the Realtek entries under Device Manager, but to no avail. Microsoft does not fnd any updates. I have downloaded and re-installed drivers from the Gigabyte website, but again to no avail.

Is there anyting else I can reasonably try?

Or is the problem likely to be a physical one, such as a damaged 3.5mm audio socket?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks. Why didn't I think of that?

Yes, the headphones work in the rear socket.

Now, why won't it drive my speakers? [Rhetorical question]. The cables are new, everything indicates that it should be OK.

More investigation to follow.

There was an update for the Creative speakers. Installed, but no change.

Thanks again.
