Question rear and front 3.5 jack

i never use the F_AUDIO on my motherboard but now i want to connect both of my headphones and speaker, but when i plug the F_AUDIO in the motherboard, i dont get anysignal from the rear jack, even tho i havent connect the front panel to any headphones, and when i plug the headphone, only the headphone have the signal, is that normal or my motherboard has reached its age ?
what i want is just chosing the audio output in windows anytime i want, is that possible ???

Click on sound in the control panel, click on playback tab and make sure the rear ports/jacks are not muted.

yeah its not muted, but still no signal out from the rear jack

So are you saying you just hooked up the f audio on your motherboard?

yea i did that and no output from the back of the motherboard anymore
