My power went out during a storm and the pc was on. Now it get to the splash screen and reboots. At that time it reboots to the "soory an error has occured" screen and has different booting selections. None work. No safe modes work. Always reboots. Plugged in another HD that has windows ME and it will boot. So I'm assuming the orig HD is fried or for some reason the stars aligned and I got a boot virus at the same time the storm hit. Any help?

If you can get that far you're HDD may not be bad at all, you could have a corrupt Windows registry as well. You didn't give your specs so I don't know what OS you have, you could try repairing Windows or re-formatting the partition and doing a clean install. I would go to the manufactures website and download their maintenance tool to check the HDD for errors, its to early to condemn the HDD. I don't always practice what I preach because I don't use one myself but you might want to look at buying a UPS:

Sorry bout that. I was using XP SP2. If I can locate the install disk I'll try to repair or re-format. Thanks for the reply.
