I just got on my computer a while ago . I was just browsing for NBA 2K15 mods on Google Chrome when my computer's Windows Explorer froze but not Google Chrome then after a minute of it freezing , it sent me a BSOD . Now , I tried to boot the pc but now I got suprised when the Starting Windows was replaced with a "Reboot and Insert Proper Device" notice . I tried restarting the pc and going in to the BIOS to check the boot priority and once again , I got suprised . Only my CD/DVD Driver was in there with a couple of UEFI Drivers . I didn't see my SATA Hard Drive . Is there anyway I can get some of the files inside my hard drive ? ADDITIONAL INFO : The Hard Drive is 3 Years Old now with 500 GB Capacity . Motherboard is MSI G43 Gaming . CPU is i3-2100 (also 3 Years Old) . An 8GB Kingston RAM .

I tried using other SATA 2 Ports with the same cable , still nothing happened . Right now , I'm trying to use the 2nd SATA Cable that came with the Motherboard package . Is it really necessary for me to use other power cables of the power supply ?

Neh I think that's fine, if you want you can try a different one. Can you hear your hard drive spinning at all? I can hear my hard drive when it is on.

The connection is fine because I've used it for about 7 months now . I didn't change anything inside the cpu case since last June . It just crashed 20 mins ago . And I don't know why .

Put your ear up to the case. Hear the hard drive running at all?

How will I know whichever of the two is the problem because for the past 7 months I was able to use it without problems . And besides , the motherboard is just 7 months old .

Did you at least listen to see if the hard drive was spinning???

Not yet but I tried something . I used the SATA Cable for my CD/DVD (6 GB/s) , the Hard Drive got recognized but when I tried to boot it , the "Reboot and Insert Proper Device" still comes up . Now I'll try to use my ears .

Not sure if the spinning sound is from the hard drive or the cpu fan . But I definitely hear something spinning inside .
