I am trying to boot from usb to have a clean install of Windows 10 but when system boot in through usb it says "reboot and select proper boot device".
Boot priority is set to usb.
Any ideas how to solve it.

Specs
Dell Inspiron 15 3542
I5 4210u
Windows 10 pro
4gb ram

is it a usb thumb drive or a usb hard disk? Ive heard of hard drives not being as compatible as regular thumb drives. Also some thumb drives like sandisk extreme 64gb or extreme pro also not working. (they running some advanced firmware stuff to attain top speeds)

A regular usb 3 thumb drive like the sandisk ultra is the go.
If its is a regular thubmdrive then id contact Dell

Also, did you use MS's content tool on win10 page to create the USB win10 installation?

i used rufus
GPT partition for uefi
pendrive - sandisk 16 gb OTG

Hi there parikh,

Have you used some software in order to make this USB flash drive bootable?
In case you haven't, you need to do that.
In case you have done that, you can reformat it and try it again. If the issue persists, you can try the flash drive on another system and see if it will work over there.

Edit - I guess I was a little late. 😀

Hope this will help,

Rufus formatted usb with fat32.
I am using the iso downloaded from microsoft website

after disabling secure boot and enabling legacy support in bios i got option to boot with usb But than this hurdle came up.

Sorry, which hurdle?

It's been suggested you try NTFS (and use Windows media creation). It wouldn't hurt, although you already have the ISO downloaded, Iwould just use Rufus again and format to NTFS instead.

It'll be hit or miss when any media creation (Windows "authorized" or otherwise), but I've personally never had any issues with Rufus.
