Hey folks,

2 Days ago i decided that i have put too mucu thermal paste on the cpu, so i removed my motherboard and cleaned some paste, but when i put it back, every time i launch my px i get a ”select a proper boot device” and i cannot use my mouse or keyboard,

The only way i can regain control and boot into windows is to open the case and replug the HDD in another socket.

I dont want this becoming a daily thing because yesterday my clock eent back 12 days and im afraid it rolled back a few stuff.

Motherboard ~ MSI G45 Gaming
Cpu ~ i7 4790k

Cheers for the answers!

Hi,

If you're constantly getting that error message it could be that your HDD is failing already. If your PC has a software that test it's hardware component I would suggest on running one with the HDD. Or better yet try another HDD if you have one available and observe if you'll have the same problem. Also do try another HDD SATA cable.
