[SOLVED] Rebuilding and upgrading pc! Need help choosing components!

Hello, thanks for checking my post, I want to rebuild my computer as its starting to show it's age. I am on a budget of around £300 to improve it. I want to keep my graphics card however I would like to replace the CPU as it's not great these days (AMD FX-8300), the RAM as it is a low frequency would like to have it spread into ass the slots to get multi channel benefits.(Brand unsure but I have 2 x 8GB DDR3 and task manager clams they run at 800mhz but I believe together they are at 1600mhz) and the motherboard if necessary (pretty sure my board is junk though its a Biostar A960D+V2). I know this isn't a great rig but thats because I used FeircePC and they cheaped out on me gave me a cheap power supply and the wrong case.

Ideally, I would like to get more performance out of my machine to keep up with my GTX 1060 6gb. I would like to have a quadcore processor and at least 16GB of RAM. I want to keep my corsair CV650 PSU and the GTX 1060 6gb. I know how to rebuild my machine so that is no problem.

To summarise: I'm looking for a good price to performance that will better keep up with my GPU and still work with a CV650 Power supply.

Current Specs:
CPU: AMD 8300FX (3.3gHz 4.3gHz turbo, 8 cores) (AM3+)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB
MB: Biostar A960D + V2
RAM: 2*8GB DDR3 (800mHz displayed in task manager although I'm pretty sure it's double) (Brand unknown)

I know this is a very shoddy rig but that's because of FeircePC (yes this is a prebuilt) Really don't recommend them.
I am replacing the motherboard and the RAM with 16GB DDR4 (4*4GB)

I am not sure what CPU to look for but would like to stay with AMD. I will be using this computer for demanding gaming and editing 1080p videos at a minimum of 30fps. The reason I want to rebuild is that my pc is getting slow and sometimes bluescreens, I know it's not malware but my instant suspect is the cheapo motherboard which I will be replacing no matter what. Thanks to those who can help.

TLDR:
I would like a CPU that is capable of demanding simulation games and video editing at 1080p30. Would prefer AMD. Thanks.

There are lots of really capable options available right now which will be a huge jump in performance from your FX cpu... easiest place to start is how much are you thinking of spending?

To give you an idea of the kind of jump - I have a first gen Ryzen 5 1600 and that is roughly 2x the speed overall of my old FX 8320, the Ryzen 3000 series and just released 5000 series are both significantly faster than my first gen part.

A good price / performance option is the Ryzen 5 3600 and should handle everything you are doing easily. You could opt for higher core counts though if you wanted to give yourself room to expand what you are doing (e.g. work on higher res or frame rate video / larger projects). There's not much benefit for more cores in games though currently, the 6 core / 12 thread parts are optimal at the moment. Ultimate gaming cpu right now is the new R5 5600X (technically the higher core count parts are faster in games but it's no more than a couple of %). It does cost quite a bit more though.
