Need a new monitor. I work in graphic and web design. I'm told that a 24" is the best way to go, but I see a lot of wide-screens and I thought that wasn't good for designers? Any brand recommend. would be great. thanks.

24" is overkill get a 22" wide screen or not one day all monitors will be like that just get a nice resolution 1900x1200 will do and a good contrast ratio 30000:1 or higher

LG, Samsung, Acer are the way to go and if you have the money get a dell...

How important id gamut to you? Unless you plan on spending a huge amount of money then you may want a tube monitor for its superior color gamut.

Other wise yes, get what size will fit nicely on your desk. All monitors are widescreen now; they figured out that you can actually make more widescreen displays than 4:3 from the same 'die'.
