Receiving "BIOS ID check" error

I recently built my first PC, I started it up and entered BIOS without an OS installed. I need a BIOS update because my CPU is not compatible with the original motherboard BIOS.

I plug in USB drive and go to qflash, select my flash drive and select the file. It begins updating and then gives me the error 'BIOS ID Check Error'.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA F2-A78M-HD2, Rev 3.0
I am using the F2 BIOS update file on a USB 2.0 Kingston Data Traveller.

Gigabyte BIOS files are compressed to reduce storage size and make transmitting them across the internet that much easier.

Gigabyte uses a self extracting .exc file system. If you don't run the .exc file, then you don't have the BIOS file in a usable form. It is still compressed.

I don't think that the first response is correct; as if you were able to successfully select the BIOS file then one must assume that you did not have it in a compressed format. Check to make sure that you downloaded the correct file; this is the link that I would be downloading from -

Assuming that you have the correct file then it is possible that you will need an older processor, one that is supported by your current BIOS, in order to correctly flash the new BIOS file!
