Receiving "Duplicate IP Address" message

Hello,

Cannot connect 2nd laptop on public wi-fi. A small window comes up that says "Duplicate IP Address" on both IE and Firefox. There are more users on the network, but I can't get the second laptop to give me a working browser. Any hints?

Open a command prompt and enter ipconfig/release and then ipconfig/renew.

and if that doesn't work you may need to get the provider of the wireless to reboot their router.

if ipconfig release fails with some error message you might have a static ip on the laptop that u'll have to change to DHCP..
