Receiving faxes offline

Hi guys.

Unfortunately due to my line of work I am increasingly needing to send and receive faxes.

I leave my home PC for weeks on end and was wondering if there is a fax modem that will store the faxes in memory or wake up the computer out of standby to receive the fax.

Can anybody recommend an external fax modem + software that will do this?

Fifteen years ago the market was full of fax modems and applications for them. These days, you'll be lucky to find anything decent.

Windows XP, and Windows 7 have built-in fax programs, and they do work both for sending (fax modem appears as a printer) and receiving. Configuring your desktop to wake up on incoming fax is something much harder to configure, and depends a lot of your fax modem and your desktop.
