Receiving pretty large packet loss when playing games

Recently I have been experiencing a large amount of packet loss during general internet usage, but most especially when playing online games such as League of Legends.
My set up at the moment is that I connect wirelessly to a ASUS RT-AC68U router which connects to a Sky SR102 modem and then into the wall. My ping and overall internet is great, my ping in games never leaves the 25ms region, but there are just random huge spikes in packet loss.

I'm not sure what information you will need but these are the results of sending two tracers to the LoL servers: http://i.imgur.com/jrPrS0n.jpg
If I am understanding this correctly my connection between my PC and router is fine, then from router to modem is fine but then it's getting lost between the modem and the actual wall line. I also ran these same tracers from a wired ethernet connection with identical results, so any suggestions or help on what the problem could be?

Thank you and if you need any more information I would be happy to provide.

*EDIT* I've also checked the wires for any damage and cleaned the ports and connections and it's all clean and in good shape, because that was my first idea and it didn't make any difference

Your problem is the fact that you are using WiFi. To be honest, there are far too many variables that may impact wireless connectivity to tell you why it is giving you issues from time to time - but the hard truth is that some of those variables are entirely out of your control. Have you attempted a wired connection to the router? If no one else using your network (with a wired connection) has experienced similar issues, I can almost promise you its simply WiFi interference preventing you from smooth game play.

I have tried the exact same tracer with an ethernet and with wifi connection and it is exactly the same on both, and it has been perfect for years and I have only been experiencing the loss in the past couple of days.

Well my first concern would be that your tracert to the LoL server is around 150+ms which is not ideal for gaming. I'm not sure if that IP address is for NA or EU servers, but either way it is not ideal.

Second, that tracert test is not an ideal route to diagnose your issue. The representation of one packet going to one location and the latency when it arrives will not properly measure an issue of packet loss. Your problem is not so much that a packet gets there moderately late, its the fact that it doesn't arrive at all.

Third, have you tried gaming with a wired connection to see if you experience the same issues? Please let me know what kind of packet loss you experience using a wired connection. That will help us greatly if we can quickly eliminate the WiFi factor (assuming you have the same problem using wired).

Alright so I have tried playing Minecraft and CS:GO online and not a single problem with packet loss, it seems to only be League of Legends that has problems. And the server I pinged in the test was the NA server and I am in EU, so the ping is pretty normal because I couldn't find the IP for the EU server.
Also the packet loss is exactly the same on ethernet and wifi.

Ok, so you have a sound wireless connection - so that is the good news. I checked Riot Support for your exact issue when it appears to be isolated to just the game itself and the only information I found was users just opening a ticket with their support team. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to do the same. Thanks for getting back to me, best of luck.

I'm also starting to receive packet loss on CS:GO now too but not even nearly as bad as on LoL. I will contact support though and thank you for your help
