Recently bought 500gb HDD but..

but when i plug it via usb ready to clone it is showing as local disk e or f and saying only 58.2gb total storage with it all free/available.

ive formatted it and uninstalled and installed driver again but no look. any help? its a laptop hdd to

its currently pluggged in so not sure but on management its telling me that the 58.2 gb is allocated and the other 407.54 is unalocated

do you need the data currently on the drive?

basically your going to need to adjust the partion. the best way would be to delete the current partions and create a new partition using the full size. also I would do this as I would never trust someone's old partition to be free of hidden boot virus.

Is this a 'new' or used drive?

Agree with the above...Delete partitions, not just a simple format.
