im planning to buy l a new graphics card and power supply for my hp pavilion p6520y to replace the on board card. i would like to install a gtx 650 ti 2gb. will this card operate in my desktop with a 750 watt power supply? if not what is the recommended card that will easily handle the newest games coming out in 2015? if you recommend a higher or lower power supply that would also be helpful

here are the specs for my desktop. the only thing thats different is that im running Windows 8.1 pro and only have 4gb ram (im planning on upgrading to 16 gb Ram)

Your CPU is older, the best you can go with is HD 7850. Anything above that will get bottlenecked seriously.
If you want Nvidia option, go here www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU14/815 and compare. Get the card that equally or slightly less performing compared to HD 7850 but don't get anything more powerful. Finalize on a card and I'll say what power supply at what ratings should you use.

i haven't ungraded my power supply yet. im waiting to buy both a graphics card and a compatible power supply at the same time.
one of the three 2gb ram cards was already removed when i bought this desktop. so far the only thing ive done it is upgrade the OS to windows 8.1 pro installed onto a PNY stage 3 120 gb Solid State drive
and yes its a 64 bit OS

my current monitor is 1440x900 but i would like to hook it up to my led lcd tv via hdmi so that i can play in 1080p on the highest game settings possible with my 1440x900 monitor as a 2nd screen. i want to see the latest games at maximum settings without lag

this is probably the card i will buy based on your recomendation
PowerColor AX7850 2GBD5-DH Radeon HD 7850 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E 3.0 x16 Video Card

Yes, good enough VRAM and clock speeds. And Power color and XFX make good Radeon HD series cards than others.

Now coming to power supply. You have to options:

SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze 520W 80 plus Bronze Power Supply OR
SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze 520W 80 plus Bronze Power Supply

They both are the same power supplies with M12II being modular unit (all the cables can be removed from the power supply) where the cables in S12II cannot be detached. So, if you want a neat and clean wire management inside the cabinet, you can buy the M12II, or you can get the S12II and tie up the unwanted cables using Zip ties and keep them aside inside the cabinet.

P.S: I would try to get a modular version under my budget because I'm the kind of guy who needs better cable management & uses 24-pin mobo connector, the CPU pin connector, two SATA connector (one for 1 SSD and another for 1 HDD), PCI-E connectors for my single GPU, etc. For instance, S12II has six SATA power connectors, so 4 will not be used in my case. With modular unit I can use what I need and remove the unwanted ones. (but should place it in a safe place, that I don't forget in years 😀)
