Title: Ant-Man

Type: Movie

Why would you watch it?: Great humor, lots of fun, Paul Rudd is great in it. The plot in it self is not that great, so they did focus alot on the humor (Marvel type humor), and in the end, I think they made it a great movie.
Woke up my girlfriend 5 times while watching it, just laughing out so hard.
Even tho' she got pretty pissed, it was still worth watching! =D

Two books, they kind of run parallel to each other:
The Magician.
Daughter Of The Empire.

The Magician is a bit cheesy (fantasy novelists never know when too much magic is too much magic) and the sequels IMO suck, but the first book is a good one. The Daughter Of The Empire trilogy is better written I think, although it suffers from the over-use of magic in some places. Game Of Thrones would be much better if there was no magic in it.

Movie: Daybreakers. This movie got overlooked because by the time it came out, everyone was bored to death with vampire movies, but this one is a pretty clever twist on an old idea.

Yes Ant-Man is great. I hear a lot from Edgar Wright fans that the screenplay could have been better if he were the one writing it, but what were they expecting? Another Hot Fuzz or Shaun Of The Dead? There's no way he could recreate the caliber of those movies. Hot Fuzz is brilliant and one of my favorite movies, ever, but there's no way Ant-Man could live up to those expectations. I really liked the way it turned out. Peyton Reed definitely filled in what Edgar Wright had and did it well. Not to mention Michael Pena stole the movie. I've enjoyed all the Marvel movies to various degrees so far to date and I'll definitely be watching all of them to come. Can't wait for Captain America: Civil War.

Title: W/Bob And David

Genre: TV Show, Comedy, Netflix

If you have Netflix and love Mr. Show, this isn't exactly the greatness that Mr. Show was, but if you're a fan of Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul, Fargo) and David Cross (Arrested Development) it's essentially more of the same. Not that it's a bad thing because all the Mr. Show regulars like Brian Poshein, Sarah Silverman, and Paul F. Thompkins are back. So if you like good sketch comedy definitely check this out.

Title: Doug Loves Movies

Genre: Podcast, Comedy

It's a game show featuring three random comedians who participate in movie trivia games, like the Leonard Maltin game and Whose Tagline Is It Anyway?, and they compete to give a random audience a prize bag full of random nonsense. I'm not doing the best job of explaining this, but just go listen.

Title: CinemaSins

Genre: Youtube Channel

You know those videos where they do "Everything Wrong With" certain movies? A lot of these are great. I particularly liked the ones for Guardians Of The Galaxy and Jurassic World. Kevin Smith did one for Star Wars Episode IV and well, got blasted in the comments section. They also have a sister channel called "What's The Damage", I like the video they did for Blues Brothers and Christmas Vacation.

The fold
by Peter Clines

Type: book

Honestly, this is the best science fiction book I have read (well, I listened to it as an audio book) in a long time, and I go through a book a week, sometimes two. The first chapters are enthralling and it just gets better and better.

The infinite monkey cage
Podcast on BBC radio

Nice science podcast with brian cox and robin ince, as well as a panel of other people. They cover all sorts of interesting questions and often make me laugh as well as learn some interesting facts.

What if?
Online articles and book
https://what-if.xkcd.com/

This online webcomic uses stick figure cartoons to illustrate hypothetical scientific questions. For example: can you make a machine gun jetpack? Could you use model rocket engines to get to space? What would a mole of moles look like? Could you cook a steak by dropping it from really high up?

Basically, some ridiculous questions you might have wondered about may have been answered, conpletely scientifically. It makes for awesome conversation in physics class at any rate, trust me.

How about can I use a bunch of model rocket engines to shoot up a mole of moles high enough to drop and cook? Sorry - just could not resist...... 🙂

I've got three book series I've enjoyed
John Carter of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs - the entire series is excellent IMO (I haven't watched the movie though)

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams - First time in my life I fell out of my chair laughing while reading a book - I absolutely love DA's humor. The BBC production series is pretty good to watch if not wanting to read the books, the Americanized version on the other hand... well, I don't know what that was

Then, to get away from SciFi/Fantasy there's
Charlie Muffin by Brian Freemantle - this is another series of books I enjoyed, Cold War spy type stuff. The movie was well done IMO although the only source I can find for it currently is a potato quality copy on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_7wAyieyMg

Oh, I've seen Brian Cox on QI a couple of times. I quite liked him. And the first episode is with Dara Ó Briain, quite like him as well. I'll give it a go

And on that topic

QI

Type: TV show

Why should you watch it: QI - Quite Interesting, where Stephen Fry presents a panel of mostly comedians with a question and points are awarded on how Interesting the answer is (being correct is optional). Having 4 comedians around a table answering a question very rarely produces an answer actually related to the question, but the journey there is almost always enjoyable.

I also love QI, definetely worth checking out. Lots of quite interresting (see what I did there?) facts and information I learn from that show.
