I am considering upgrading my gpu to a GTX980 OR a 970 (leaning to 980), but one thing I'm still not sure on is just how to know how much wattage I would need in a psu. I'm not too keen on sli so I'd really like just 1 gpu to deal with.

Also if anyone knows with my current cpu, when would it start to bottleneck? Would I need to consider upgrading to an i7 or would that one be fine?

I mostly only game at 2560x1440 res and I just want to keep this gpu for a while. My current gpu chugged quite a bit with farcry4 but it was still fun at 20ish-40ish fps and Im sure witcher 3 is just going to kill it...hell it wasn't running witcher 2 anywere near 60fps at 2560x1440 with no uber aa on.

Solution
7870 Ghz and a GTX 980 probably use about the same amount of power so your PSU should be fine. Keep your CPU as well, not much advantage in upgrading to an i7.
