Hi - I am a forex trader and use a lot of screen real estate. I maintain a very peaceful environment and am sensitive to noise (especially unnecessary noise!!). Previous platforms have been custom build and make virtually no noise (I need a light to see if they are on). However I am concerned about the grunt required to drive 4x 4k, 43" screens.
I am looking to upgrade my current workstation shortly and want to make sure I maintain a zen environment.
My existing gtx1060's seem to be struggling to keep up with just 2x 4k screens (chunky movement).
Some of my apps do offload maths & FFTs to GPUs & I watch the occasional video/youtube/training and certainly do not need 4k gaming performance.
Planning for an i7 7820X (2066 socket if that matters).

I would appreciate opinions on the best GPU card/configurations given the priority is no/minimal noise, then performance. I am open to water cooling if there is an integrated solution available (I am old fashioned and water and computers do make me nervous).

The PC will be on pretty much 7*24.

Thanking you in advance,

Lex

For running 4 4K displays I would definitely be looking at purchasing a Quadro card from Nvidia. These are more specialised than their gaming graphics cards and will allow you to support your high resolution displays.

Depending on your budget would depend on which card/s you can buy for this. If you could get back I’d be happy to help you out more.
MSI´s twin forze coolers are famous for low noise, the gigabyte aourus series also do well. In general go for 90-100mm fans and at least two of them with a high heatsink.
Also look for a case without glass side panel and sound dampening material like the SilverStone Kublai KL07 or the be!quiet cases.
The Thermalright Macho 120 Rev. A (100700721) and the Scythe Mugen 5 (SCMG-5000) both support 2066 socket and are decent air coolers for a fair price.

Otherwise I would disadvise using multiple GPUs in one build, they restrict one another´s airflow and do not scale well in most software applications and games. I would go with a Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1070 (GV-N1070AORUS-8GD) or 1080 (GV-N1080XTREME-8GD-PP)

Do not forget to cap frames with afterburner and tweak your fan curves! You can also place the case further or use a water cooled graphics card. Feel free to ask away!

There are some passively cooled options out there too... maybe worth looking at as an option.

If any of the monitors will be using HDMI be careful to pick a HDMI 2.0 capable board as otherwise you won't be able to run 2160p@60Hz (and you will wonder why the UI is so sluggish... as it'll run at 24fps)

Awesome - it seems the Quadro series is definitely a great solution (had never heard of these before). Question now is which model. I am thinking P4000. So remaining considerations - would 8G be enough for 4x 4K and secondly - I am not very familiar with Display ports - when the PC is shutdown - will DisplayPort connected screens power down to standby mode? (currently have issue with older Dell 30" monitors where I need to power down the DisplayPort manually whilst the HDMI connected screen does automatically switch to standby mode ...).
Thank you all for responding.

Hi Zoltan, thank you for the initial response and confirmation of the Quadro solution. Greatly appreciate your effort. I will definitely get a Thermalright Macho - what a beast of a cooling unit! Silverstone also looks like a great choice for case.

Thanks Robert - have already learnt this lesson the hard way. Since be taking great care with cable selections!
