Hello There.

Currently I have a AMD Radeon A8-6600K CPU and the stock cooler that came with it has sadly died so I'm in desperate need of a new cooler. The problem is I'm not sure of a cooler that would be appropriate since it needs to support the TDP of my CPU (I learnt about that yesterday after buying a cooler that wasn't good enough for my CPU...)

Basically I need a cooler that is going to support my CPU and isn't too big, about 8cm, 9cm maximum really though 9cm isn't massively ideal.

Would someone possibly be able to recommend a CPU cooler for this job?

Solution
Its a stock amd cooler mount , it fits any amd board right back from fm1,am2.

Cables ? That PSU is top mounted ??

Buy a few zip ties from b&q , wilko or the pound shops.(even a few bread bag ties will do the job)
Tie them together & shove them into one of the drive bays

& yes the cooler is better than the stock one , not massively so (maybe 5c under load less)

A hell of a lot quieter though !!
The little stock and 70mm fan relies on 4000rpm speeds to keep the CPU cool , 92mm fans (like the one on the alpine) top out at half that.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that stuff, sorry about that.

My motherboard model is fm2-a55m-e33

My Case is a Mini Tower Zoostorm case... so not much room

My budget is about £20 sadly. I'm not looking for an amazing fan truthfully, just a replacement.

and no, I don't plan to move it to a new system in the future

But surely I would need to replace the cooler bracket wouldn't I? In order to use that cooler you recommended

That's the thing, I'm not exactly that confident or even comfortable with changing the brackets so It would be more ideal to get one like the cooler I showed you... Unless of course that just isn't possible anymore.

It would cost me more money to buy a new bracket though? Even though I highly doubt it would be a lot.

Also do you know what the TDP of that fan you recommended is?

Ahh okay :), don't you have to unscrew the motherboard though to install the brackets?

And you don't have any recommendations for a cooler that will just clip on? without me having to replace the brackets?

Not really, will be hard to find which exact cooler doesn't require new brackets. The ones which don't for sure are like the one you found (similar to the stock) and they are not worth the money. People also don't really care about that since the installment is that easy.

I imagine it is easy though it's just that I've never changed the bracket before :/

What is the name of bracket exactly if you know? and if it actually has one

It seems a little too big width wise considering a 8cm wide cooler is really all that can fit into my computer. Also sadly the fan would be blocked by all the cables I have coming off of my power supply.

I'm honestly not sure where you're getting 8cm from at all ??

That case has full size optical bays so is a minimum of 160mm wide.

Cables can be moved out of the way & tied back.

If you're absolutely insistent you need a smaller cooler then really this is your only option under £20 because low profile coolers generally cost more than towers.

By 8cm, I mean the size the cooler can basically be before it gets in the way of stuff. My stock cooler was about 8cm wide and was just small enough that it didn't get in the way of everything. That cooler you linked just know seems like it's wide enough that it would get blocked by the RAM.
