Hi guys, looking for a good gaming laptop, zeroed it down to these 2 on my budget; both are 16":

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i:
Has a AMD Ryzen 7 7745HX Processor, RAM: 32 GB DDR5 / Storage: 1 TB SSD, Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8 GB, Quad HD screen / 240 Hz 2560 x 1600p

MSI Vector GP68 HX 13V
Has a i9-13950HX Processor, RAM: 16 GB DDR5 / Storage: 1 TB SSD, Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB. Screen is WUXGA 1920x1200p 144hz

I'm thinking the MSI Vector for the raw power, will I be missing much with the 240hz screen?
Cheers

Hey there,

Without doubt, I would go with the MSI. The GPU is far and away ahead of the 4070 8gb. CPU's are similar performance in gaming, but with the MSI the 13950h happens to be a monster CPU in everything else, and leaves the 7745h behind a little.

Obvisouly the Lenovo has a better screen res. However, the second option, although a UXGA panel, will be maxed with with it's components. So you should expect some really smooth gaming.

I’ve got a legion. It’s been the best laptop I’ve ever had. I had the same thoughts on the 240hz screen when I was looking. That said, depending on the price difference I would choose the MSI and 4080
