Recommendations for upgrading GPU?

So im looking to upgrade my gpu to something stronger then my current 960 2gb. My current specs are :
ASRock Fatal1ty H97 Performance LGA 1150 Intel H97
Intel Core i7-4790 Haswell Quad-Core 3.6GHz LGA 1150
G.SKILL TridentX Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM
Seasonic M12II EVO Edition SS-620GM2 620W 80 PLUS Bronze ATX12V/EPS12V
EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 2GB SuperSC GDDR5
So i want to upgrade to a new card that has 4gbs atleast im a gamer also like to stream sometimes so just trying to get something thats good an will last with all these new games coming out some asking 3gbs for ultra and stuff. Price range about $300 and a link would be greatly appreciated thanks.

So, we have the same card 😀 I was thinking to upgrade but I said that It would be better to save up more and wait for the nvidia pascal on 2016. If you want to upgrade right now for like 40fps more in games get the gtx 970 but too see a lot of difference a 980 would be good

The 970 is your best bet. as the others have said. You might find a R9 390 around that price as well, and the performance is pretty close to, and generally a little better than the 970 at stock, especially at resolutions over 1080p.

But actually, I wouldn't upgrade right now. Your card is heavily overclocked, and you'll get one close to stock for $300. Going up one market segment just won't buy you that much improvement. I would wait for Pascal and the 400 series and see what they have in store. They'll be doing the first die shrink in several years and the higher end cards at least will have HBM2. You'll also be able to see which architecture handles DX12 better.

So I would save your money and wait until next spring or summer. Your 960 should be fine for 1080p for games coming out this holiday season and if you hold on to that 300 and add a little more over the winter and spring, you should be able to afford the successor to the 980 or 390.

Yeah stick to your 960 until pascal releases or until your budget gets higher 😀

Get the cheapest 970 with 2fans that exist the clocks you can increase them more than the best clocked 970

There are some brands that, in my experience, have better quality. For nVidia cards I stick with EVGA and ASUS. The other brands I've had bad experiences with. Here is one as an example:
