Recommendations on what upgrades to make.

I currently have:

CPU x4 860k Athlon
GPU Nvidia GTX 950
MB Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H
CASE Corsair Spec-01
RAM Kingston HyperX DDR3 1866 C10 2x8GB
PSU 430w

This was a budget build around a year ago and was thinking of upgrading to an Intel 6600k with a ASUS H170 PRO GAMING ATX Skylake Motherboard.

The other option was to just change the 950 to a 1060 or 1070.

What do you guys think I should go for, let me know another other recommendations of upgrades I could go for.

There's no real reason to go with a 6600k if you're not going to pair it with a z series board and overclock it. Either the 1060 or 1070 would be a nice upgrade over the 950. If looking to stick with the h170 may as well consider either an i5 6500, 6600 or i7 6700. You might want to upgrade your power supply depending how old it is, 430w would probably work if it's a decent brand/model but it won't leave you a whole lot of headroom.

Unless you have a decent aftermarket cooler you'll need one compatible with the lga 115x motherboards since the 6600k doesn't come with a stock cooler at all. None of the newer 'K' series cpu's do, the 6600k, 6700k, 7600k, 7700k all require coolers even if running them at stock. The non k 6500, 6600, 6700 etc come with a stock cooler. Kabylake's 7th gen cpu's are coming out shortly, there's a k series i3 that will be able to overclock on a z series motherboard but I'm not positive if it comes with a stock cooler or not.

You'll also want to ugprade to ddr4 ram for skylake, kaby lake or amd's new ryzen coming out in a month or two.

Sorry mate its suppose to be Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard
