I'm starting to think about upgrading my desktop PC (currently an Intel D865GLC main board, Pentium 4 HT 2.8 GHz CPU, 1 GB DDR2 RAM, 250 GB ATA HDD). What I'm looking for is: Intel Core 2 Duo, SATA (preferably eSATA as well) with a current chipset (probably P35), GB Ethernet. I don't care about on-board video or sound. This can be ATX or mATX form factor. Oh, and I want be able to run Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows XP.

Any strong suggestions?

E6550 (or E2180 if you just surf the web, light gaming, etc and also if you are on a budget you can OC this CPU to equal E6800 stock or better)

*not sure about driver issues with Linux. The GB Ethernet might not work on the DS3L w/o drivers.
