Question Recommended cabinet sizes for 4090 build

I am going to build a 4090 system(Strix/TUF OC edition), but I am building my desk first. I wanted to attach cabinet to desk from underneath and wanted to know what are the recommended cabinet sizes for 4090 builds so I can build correct platform to hold the cabinet.

I can pick any full tower? I read several stories of old towers not being big enough for 4090.

Find a case you like that will fit that card if your current case doesn't and then use the dimensions of the case to determine the size of your cabinet. First you need to check the size specs of the card you choose.

The general chassis detail provided is max GPU length. 4090 can be quite long so you have to fit that first. The more difficult problem is now the width. These cards are very wide and often have power connectors that come off the side, so you need more room than even the card's width for the side panel to go on without pinching the cable.

Full towers gain a lot of height and depth, but not always width, so you have to quite certain what you pick out.

Vertical mount can be the solution to a lot problems, but you still have to keep chassis width in mind, you don't want the fans pressing up against a solid tempered glass panel.

GPU is 149.3mm wide. Power connector is slightly recessed, but does come out the side.


This is an older style full tower, similar to my mid-tower.

140mm fan + 44.45mm (I/O shield height)

That leaves 35.15 millimeters we can visually confirm between the side panel and GPU. +/- maybe 5mm depending on how thick the side panel is.

Recommended bend radius for the 12VHPWR cable is 40-50mm. So just barely with the recessed connector, maybe.

I need a case that's around 500mm tall but all full towers are around 600mm. The one linked by eximo is 530mm tall, it might work for me but I would prefer to have something 500mm tall at max. Please let me know if you have suggestions. (My current build is very low spec with basic case, so going for new build.)

Most full towers are that tall. I have a few early 90s ones that dwarf modern cases.

Corsair 7000D is 550mm tall. After that you are looking at $300 for new old stock on some cases.
