Hi,

I want to upgrade my power supply unit as I currently have a scammy HEC PSU, yet I'm unsure of what minimum wattage I should go for.

Current specs.:

- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 (*)
- i7-2700K @ 3.4 GHz
- 8 GB Kingston Hyper X @ 1600 MHz (9905403-199.A00LF 4GB x2)
- Asus GeForce GTX960 2GB STRIX OC PCI-E
- Western Digital WD5000AAKX (500 GB SATA, 16 MB cache)
- Sony Optiarc AD-5260S
- PSU HEC-700TA-2W1, 700 Watt

From the forum's link to Realhardtechx' recommendations for PSU vs. graphics cards, GTX 960 has a recommended wattage of 430 - that seems a bit low to me?

I am open to product suggestions and at the moment Corsair seems to be making some solid PSUs.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the helpful feedback!

@SR-71 Blackbird - thanks for the links!

Since my rig are getting a bit old, I went with the TS Series XFX 550W.

I have a follow-up question I hope you can answer:

So, the XFX psu has fixed ATX12V / EPS12V: One 4+4-pin, One EPS 12V 8-pin connectors.

Which of the two would you recommend using for the CPU power? - Would it make any differences at all?
