Recover user profile windows xp

I recently ran a system recovery due to an issue where my computer would continually restart and I also couldn't start it in safe-mode. My files are still there, at the end of the recovery process I got a message telling me that windows could not open my user profile, and created another.

Before this I had about 63 GB of free space on my hard drive, now it's about 530 MB. I can not find my old profile info anywhere, I can see all of my old folders but most of them have nothing in them. Because of the reduction in free space "I THINK" my data is still there. Any suggestions as to how I can get it back?
