Recovering data from ATA/100 drives

I was cleaning up some old stuff and found two old PATA HDDs and I'd like to recover the data from them, but I don't know how since I threw away the PC that used them a long time ago. The drives are:

• 
  ■ Seagate Barracuda 7200.7, 40GB, ST340014A
  ■ Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9, 60GB, 6Y060L0

I've found what I think are the data cables. What else do I need to get to connect them to my PC? Ideally I'd want to mount them externally. My PC supports SATA 1-3 only and has an eSATA3 connector, if that's any help.

A IDE to USB adapter,
A IDE to SATA Adapter,
A Addin IDE Controller,
Find an older PC with built in IDE Controller.

The adapters are cheap.

Just make sure the IDE hard drives Master/Slave setting is set to MASTER! They will NOT work unless hard drives are set to master.

You sure this will be allright? The amazon reviews for this one say the PSU could fry the disk. I imagine recovering data from a 10 year old HDD is quite a long shot but I'd rather not mess it up

You can always use the power of an existing power sully as well.
