Yesterday i got my new PC, it has a msi gtx 1070, i7 6700k, and a MSI z170a gaming M5 motherboard. the pc is working perfectly fine, but i got a red light next to my RAM that turns on when i boot the pc and goes off then i turn off the pc. im not sure if its to show there is power, or if it is for the looks, or maybe to indicate something is wrong. here is a picture of the light:

I tried reading through the manual but i couldnt find what it was

It is the XMP led. I mailed msi just to be sure and they said everything is fine. The light will turn off when disabling XMP

It's your memory check LED. How much ram does your PC say is installed in Windows and what is the actual capacity. I'm actually not familiar with this motherboard so I don't know for certain if this is normal behavior. Barring the memory isn't recognized if everything works I would have to say it's fine.

I have the same board, and everything is working fine, yet my light there is red as well. I suspect it's purely decorative, as there is no fine print on the board at that location to indicate any function. I am running XMP on my Ram tho, and haven't tried turning it off to see if it's an indicator of that.
