Red tint screen

I have just bought an HDMI cable. I plugged it into my Dell desktop pc so I could watch movies on my T.V. I plugged in the cable and I have a red tint screen on my monitor. I still have the red screen even though the HDMI cable is not plugged in, How do I get the normal screen colour back?
