Reduced framerate on screen after using Windows key to go to desktop from a game in Windows 10

When I want to quickly go back to the desktop without exiting my game, I can now use the Windows key to jump back. kind of like alt+tabbing. But when I do, everything on my screen slows down somewhat so that it looks like I'm using a virtual desktop. And this continues even when I go back to my game and does not return to normal frame rate until after I exit out of my game.

Is there a way to fix this?

I used to have this problem in some games, but normally a GPU driver fixed this (I'm talking not just 10 but windows 7 and 8).

Best you can do for now is either update the drivers and/or try windowed mode.

My driver is already up to date.
