I have a new 3800 X2 which is one of the toledos, and I've been experimenting with overclocking. I was finding that my room was getting quite warm. I'm in the basement of an airconditioned house, so it is usually quite cool. So I set the 3800 back to stock, but I still had the same problem, and my temperatures only dropped a few degrees. Right now I'm running at 2.4 and my idle temp is 35C.
My question is, is there a way to reduce the heat output of my computer? Lowering the clocks didn't help too much at all.
Speedfan shows one of my temperatures (temp3) rising really quickly to 48-50, and then drop once the stress is gone (ie prime95) to about 28C.
Could my system be too much for my psu, and could this cause excess heat?
I thought about applying AS5 to my northbridge fan, but I guess that would just cool the chip faster, while leaving me with the same amount of heat in the case exhaust.
I might try putting my single core athlon64 back in, and see how quickly my room heats up.
Any other suggestions?
Maybe I'm just going crazy
