Reformat a hard drive from another computer to be used as a storage device

So i got this old WD blue caviar 320gb SATA HDD and I'd like to format it and use it to store data (much like a Flash Drive or a CD) and not use it for an OS for a computer (since the computer is broken and old and i managed to salvage this and a couple of ram sticks)

Get yourself an external USB enclosure which will fit your disk, connect it via USB, format the drive from windows, and you can then use it for backup.

Also, if there's space inside the new PC's case, you can install it as a 2nd internal drive. I have 2 in my case: WD Black for main, WD Blue for secondary use.
