Hello,

I need to reformat 2 500GB HDDs that I'm going to give away to a friend but I only have a laptop to my disposal at the moment.
Can I reformat my HDDs with my sata to USB 3.0 adapter or will it corrupt the reformatting and damage the drives?
Or is it totally safe?

Solution
Hey Galas. You shouldn't worry about formatting the drives via a SATA to USB cable. If they are powered up and recognized properly in Disk Management it wouldn't be any different than reformatting an external drive connected with a USB cable.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
