Question refresh rate is not working correctly

the monitor says it should support 165 hz on the display port but when i connect the display port and select 165 hz my screen doesnt enable 165 hz but goes back to 60. when i switch it to 144 my screen starts flickering and flashing turning on and off.

i have the aoc 24g2su the monitor had a dp cable delivered with it also im using a laptop that comes with an ryzen 7 and a rtx 3060 the laptop doesnt have a dp input/output so im using a usb c hub from i tec that should support it because with hdmi 2.0 it does on my second monitor

the monitor is functioning normal when its on 60hz or lower but when i go to 120 or higher it starts doing random shizzle. also i looked all over google for info but nobody had this issue

So you have a DP hub plugged into your laptop via usb-c and are using the DP output on the hub to run a cable from the hub into your monitor?

i first did it with the hdmi and that worked fine with 144 hz so im confused why the dp doesnt work

Have you tried other DP's on the hub? Also is the laptop plugged into the charger while you do this or not? Is there a difference?

only have this dp it was newly deliverd with the monitor and yes the laptop is charging while im doing this
