I found out that the reason my computer crashes when I play Overwatch is because the temperature gets really high (around 70C) when I'm playing on 144 FPS. So I turned the refresh rate of the monitor to 60hz via Display Adapter Settings > Monitor > Monitor Settings > Screen Refresh Rate. I used Nvidia Control Panel as well to change it to 60hz. Also, I changed the settings in Overwatch to handle 60 FPS only. However, I noticed that the screen gets really laggy. The mouse isn't smooth when it moves. The Windows animations get really laggy too. I see tears on the screen when I play Overwatch. You might say I'm just so used to the smoothness of 144hz, but I know that 60hz is so much smoother than what I'm experiencing now. How do I solve this?

Solution
The issue here is that Overwatch uses Vsync to limit your framerate to 60 fps - and vsync always introduces input lag.

In most cases, you can avoid this issue by "software limiting" your FPS instead of through vsync. MSI Afterburner has an option to limit FPS - use this instead, and disable framerate limit within Overwatch.
