refurbished GPUs on ebay?

Hey guys. I've been looking into getting a new gpu and I'm wondering if its a good idea to buy them refurbished off of ebay? I dont really have that much money to buy a quality one new.

As with anything used/refurbished, it's a gamble. From a reputable dealer like Newegg or Amazon, you may get a limited warranty if there is anything wrong. With E-Bay, I'm not sure you'd find a warranty.

I personally dont recommend it, as you have no guarantee of what you are going to get. Not to mention what little warranty you get from reputable sellers such as newegg will not be provided.

I bought my entire system off eBay with 2 exceptions. Psu and gpu. They were both brand new. Cpus are hard to kill, mobo's either work or don't, hdd I had, but the potential for abuse of a psu or gpu is too high a ratio to be worth considering other than possibly a very low end gpu to fit a low end pc where the cards that'll work on that system are really no longer manufactured.

Save up your cash, buy those parts new. Good gpus cost too much to throw away when the item dies 10 minutes after install. Only a DOA will be covered by eBay unless the listing specifies it's a dead item, for parts or repair.

Yep. If the listing says 'no returns' then there is probably already an issue (or a supposed issue) and seller is just waiting on a sucker to dump the item on

Hm. well the one I'm looking into is 14 day returns and he has 100% satisfaction rate with like 1000 ratings

With eBay it's all about the reputation. Does this seller have recent sales too? Or are they older?

Pay with PayPal and you have an extra layer of refund-protection. With satisfaction rates, ratings & return policies as you've stated, I'd personally go for it.
