Hi so i've been looking to upgrade my corsair vengeance 2x4gb 2400mhz kit to a 16gb kit of 3000-3200mhz ram speeds, i've got a Asus prime b450 plus & a newer motherboard i have yet to use the "Msi b450 carbon pro ac"
I'm over in australia so ram is a little hard to get below the $200 range especially for a 16gb kit of high speeds, and anything below a 16gb kit is really not much cheaper
so i'm thinking this https://www.umart.com.au/Kingston-H...x8GB--3200MHz-CL16-DIMM-XMP-Ready_39038G.html
Problem is based on compatibiliy lists on my motherboards it runs in single channel and uses a SK Hynix chipset which i've read is pretty terrible for ryzens and it's cl speeds are CL16-18-18, no idea on how CL speeds work but i'm somewhat sure lower is better right? and if i want to overclock this ram then not having a very good chipset on it isn't the best right?
It is also SS (Single sided) on my b450 compatibility list and i'm not sure what the difference between SS and DS is and what one is better or if it really matters also if a ram is specified to be single channel or dual channel will it only run at said specification or is it just marketing?
running out of ram options here may have to go lower speeds as most ram is sold out and out of stock unfortunately, i know right australia sucks.
wait based on more research i take it it says single channel cause it's a 8gb ram, so it is dual channel when used with two of the sticks right?
After a ton more research i found that samsung b dies are the best and lower latency is better i went off this https://benzhaomin.github.io/bdiefinder/ i found this one https://www.umart.com.au/G-Skill-RIPJAWS-V-16GB-KIT-8GBX2-DDR4-3000MHZ-1-35V_36804G.html except it dosen't show up on memory support on either of my motherboards, do y'all think it'll work it's a pretty good set of ram
oh and maybe this one https://www.msy.com.au/home/22614-g...it-8gbx2-ddr4-3200-amd-ryzen-desktop-ram.html but it's more expensive, both of them are good however
