I was, following a Microsoft guide, trying to make .exe programs run. It made me use regedit but now I can't open any .exe program!! Even regedit or chrome (I'm writing via phone) Help please

Solution
Try a system restore to prior to when you did the registry edits. Failing that, try a system repair. Failing that, reinstall Windows.

Next time make sure to make a registry backup file before you edit registry and a full system backup.

Right, it does beg the question - Is he addressing the cause, or a symptom of a much larger issue that led him down the path to needing to edit the registry in the first place.

The reg file TXT should in theory fix the EXE association in Windows 7. But that doesn't mean there aren't other pre-existing problems that also need to be resolved. In which case, yeah, an OS reinstall might be required.

@stdragon without seeing what he original changed. Making recommendations to changes on his registry at this point is a bad idea. Especially when you dont know what exact OS he is on...

Better to just reinstall Windows and do it right. If he wasn't able to use .exe to start with, obviously he has bigger issues with his system.

He did post this under the Windows 7 forum. Hence why I mentioned it.

Anyways, he did ask for advice. If he's going to reload the OS anyways, I don't see the problem in at least making a best effort at fixing the issue. Honestly, I give it 50/50 chance. I've personally seen Malware whack EXE associations, so fixing it would probably be a futile effort in the end if that's the case.

Without knowing exactly what you did, a fix is near impossible to suggest.
Recover from a previous backup, or reinstall the OS (and everything else).
