I have an old 600MHz Dell computer that I installed a 250GB IDE drive, and I intend to put it in the shed out back. It's purpose is to have an off-site backup in case the house burns down. The shed is about 100' away from the house.
Of course, I don't heat the shed, and here in NW WA, it can get pretty cold, I have seen 11 F (-11C), and heard it might get colder.
If I have a case fan and PSU fan, I am thinking about interrupting the power to the PSU fan when it is cold outside. The case fan would reverse the air flow through the PSU warming the inside of the computer.
Does anyone have any experience with this idea? or, Thoughts?
Thanks, Mark.
