Hello, today i bought a new cpu AMD 860 k, with new Mobo Gigabyte F2A68HM-S1, 8Gb DDR 3 Ram.

I replaced these components with my old Asus m5a 78 Mobo with amd phenom 9750. I did not reinstall my windows.

The problem : HW monitor is showing crazy temperatures of 860k, literally every second I see differences from 45 to 60 celsius and when at load even 90s.

I have installed the latest chipset driver from Gigabyte site. I havent got a new dvd drive with sata support to reinstall windows, which I have on dvd, but planning on buying one tommorrow.

So guys tell me please, will the reinstallation help or do I have a faulty cpu ?

Thanks

Generally it's a good idea to reinstall Windows if you're changing the motherboard to avoid compatibility issues.

Insofar you're using the x4 860k and referring to temperature rather than thermal margin indicates the problem. See here for more detail.

Download AMD Overdrive to check your thermal margin. Make sure it's over 20 deg C on a full load; if it isn't then look to reinstalling the CPU cooler. Basically, the higher the thermal margin the better for the CPU.

Other temperature monitors aren't accurate for AMD CPUs, hence the use of AMD Overdrive.
