Bare with me :) I re-installed windows vista on a computer that was given to me. It's a dell XPS 410. (I have all the disks for it, reinstallation disk, drivers etc.) I reformated the computer and put Vista back on, It restarts and tells me Windows didn't shut down correctly, I try and load windows normally and then the screen goes black and a box bounces around on the screen telling me "Input not supported". I try and load windows in safe mode, but it tells me that the installation can't be completed in safe mode and the process just starts over again. My display is an ACER that says it is certified for Vista. The computer wond load to the desktop. I really appreciate your time in help me with this. I can follow instructions very well.

I'm not able to get that far. It hasn't even completed the installation of windows vista. It restarts, then It gets as far as the loading screen then the screen goes black and says that message. I havent seen the desktop or log in screen.

I know a good deal, but no formal knowledge lol. I really feel like the graphics card is out, there are lines on the screen that do not appear when connected to another computer. I fear there may be other physical errors too. But, free is free lol.
