Reinstalling a backup

i don't have windows XP CD.. I'd like to format my system and reinstall WINDOWS XP. how does it work

You need a new Win XP CD. They run about $80. However, if you own a product key, it's legitimate to ask someone, a friend for instance, to make a copy. You have a license for the key, not the physical disk.

You can find your key by using Magical Jellybean Key Finder.

If you have a Dell or HP, you will need a CD from the same company.

If you have an OEM build with a recovery partition, you can use that. You don't have to have the disc.
