Trying to reinstall Yosemite on a friends Mac, figured it'd be easy stuff. Got a download for 10.10.2 Yosemite, then used my Windows 10 with CMD, and made the drive bootable for Mac with Diskpart, afterwards I tried to use TransMac to restore the .dmg file of the 10.10.2 Yosemite.

I plugged the USB into the Mac, and attempted to reinstall it. At first it began going well, but soon stopped while showing the white circle with a cross through it instead.

Am I missing anything, or could this Lexar USB be the cause of failure?

Its better you use a Mac. But you can do it using Transmac on windows:

Better option now is to contact the Apple support or Apple Service. They will surely help you in installing the OS.

Good Luck.:) Peace.

Just got back from work, luckily a Mac was returned, so I restored it and then set it up under our name in order to make a new USB drive from downloading Sierra off the Apple Store, and then I used Terminal to mount it towards the USB using the command:

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app
