Reinstalling Windows 8.1?...

Hi,

A family members PC currently has Windows 10 on it, bit wants it taken back to Windows 8.1, which it was several months ago. Now too late to go back using the OS controls, and after doing do before, and having to have a specialist sort out the problems that occurred, I have bought a disc version of Windows 8.1, and plan to reinstall this ion the PC. I understand how to carry out the installation, (insert disc, restart pc, setup OS, follow instructions). But after installation, do I need to install PC drivers. and if so, how do I find them, as it is a off the shelf PC.

Yes, you need to install the relevant drivers.
You find them at the manufacturers website.

If the PC has working internet connectivity using drivers included in the install image, Windows Update should be able to take care of most hardware if you do not want to hunt down individual drivers or bother with the chip manufacturer's control panels where applicable.
