Reliability of Single-board computers?

Hello!

Is it possible to use single-board computers for a longer period of time?

Anyone tried using it for several hours? (12 - 15)

How is the reliability of them?

Eg: Raspberry Pi, Cubieboard

I have a Raspberry Pi running an Asterisk exchange with an uptime of three months. It's got a couple of added heatsinks (really tiny, just a milled lump of copper 1cm^2) and low load, though. CPU currently ~40C, and the cupboard it's in is maybe 22C.

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking foward to run a web-app on a single-board computer (probably raspberry pi or cubieboard)

Can you please be kind enough to upload a photo of your device, so I can get an idea to build my one to eliminate the heat.

You don't really need to do much.

Buy any plastic case and heatsink pack and you should be fine.

are there any known commercial products / services / organisation who uses single board / SoC units?

I don't know of any. Generally, virtualisation or shared hosting is how you go in datacentres.

You're more likely to find single-board stuff in remote locations.
