Question Remote access NAS

I am thinking of buying a NAS such as WD My Cloud or similar product. My router has a dynamic IP address which constantly changes. What I need is the following:

My Nas is connected to my ADSL router at home, my pc is not on. I am in another country on my laptop. Can I access the files on the My Cloud even though my home pc is not on?

Any advice would be appreciated.

It will depend on the NAS choice. I would recommend a QNAP or Synology over the WD. I know the QNAP and Synology both have Web based remote access.

A VPN is one way, but is more complicated. A DDNS that can be maintained by your router and a port forward to the NAS can accomplish file access. It really depends on what protocol you want to use and what the NAS supports. I guess @Mandark keyed in on the "pc off" aspect of your original question to provide the VPN option.
