I am using Windows XP SP2, and removable drives stopped showing in Windows
Explorer (My Computer). This includes Flash drives, USB Zip, and Firewire.

They show in Administrative Tools (Disk Management), in the Safe Removal
tool (Tray), and they are also accessible from the command prompt.

I am at wit's end with this, any ideas?
They are no drive assignment conflicts.

Do they have Drive Letters? Do they show up in Disk Management?

I think that's what my note says 🙂

I can even access them from the commandline (cmd.exe).

The only place they do not show is in the Windows Explorer. If I kill and
restart it, they are visible.

Somehow, the Explorer is not updating its status. Are there any kind of
policy settings that might have gotten screwed up?
